QUESTIONS? HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS.
What should I bring for my trip?
Here is what we recommend: swimwear (you will get wet, even on a scenic float because there is always that one person who will splash you with their paddle); sunglasses; sunscreen; bug spray (especially in the evening); water (to drink, obviously there will be water in the river, you don’t need to bring your own); a waterproof phone bag.
Casper is located at a high elevation so bring lots of water to drink. You will need it. Also, the sun gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so that sunscreen recommendation is pretty important.
You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks in a cooler. Just be sure to take care of your trash. We want to take care of our rivers and lakes.
Why do you use inflatables?
Because they are fun! Also, technology has increased greatly in the last several years and inflatable watercraft are becoming safer, stronger, and easier to use every year.
In most cases an inflatable watercraft is more resiliant to the inevitable rock bumps and river bottoms encountered in a river float, and if damage does happen inflatables are easier to repair than their hard plastic cousins.
Space – inflatable watercraft are much easier to transport. It allows us to offer rentals from a central location that you can pack up in your car or suv and take wherever you want to go. From an economical standpoint, we are able to offer more competative rental prices because of the lower overhead for off-season storage.
Can we bring kids?
Absolutely! We keep our pricing simple by charging a flat rate for trips per person, but kids are always welcome. It is up to parents or guardians to make a choice what age they feel comfortable bringing their kids through the Casper Whitewater Park.
Every passanger is provided a life jacket with your rental and those must be kept with the watercraft at all times. Children 12 and under need to wear their life jackets for the entirity of your trip per Wyoming regulations.
How safe is the Casper Whitewater Park?
The Casper Whitewater Park is a blast! It man-made section of rapids. There are 5 rapids total that vary in their degree of difficulty and each rapid has multiple approaches that effect how intense the trip is. Water levels also effect how the rapids respond.
While our rapids are not on the level of a full whitewater rafting river, they can still be very dangerous, with rapidly changing water conditions and unseen obstacles. We ALWAYS recommend wearing life jackets through the whitewater portion of the river.
We also recommend running the rapids with a raft or kayak as opposed to paddle boards and tubes.
If you are with one of our guides, they have navigated the river many times and will choose the safest, fun route through the rapids based on what your group is looking for.
If you do not feel comfortable around the rapids, or are unsure of your swimming abilities, please use caution when deciding to navigate this section of the river.
Can I picnic of the banks of the river?
Not really. In Wyoming, while floating on navigable waterways through private land is generally allowed, the stream bottom and banks are considered private property. You can float through, but must remain in your boat unless you have permission to disembark, wade, or anchor. Wading, bank fishing, or anchoring without permission constitutes trespass. So, it is better to play it safe and remain in your watercraft.
